Portes du Soleil
With an amazing 650km of slopes running between France and Switzerland the 'Portes du Soleil' represents the largest linked ski area in the world - 212 interconnected lifts servicing eight areas in France and four in Switzerland, 273 marked ski runs and 216 km of cross-country trails.

Good pistes for both beginners and more advanced skiers and a wide-ranging selection of off-piste runs mean that skiers regularly return to explore the slopes of the 'Portes du Soleil' year after year. This size has been complimented with a heavy investment in facilities: new, fast and reliable lifts cut down significantly on queuing. The Snow Park at Avoriaz has become a boarder's Mecca and snow making equipment guarantees a good snow covering on all the major pistes.

The terrain is incredibly diverse for skiers of all levels, age and discipline. Whether you ski, board, blade, telemark, cross-country ski, randonee or snowshoe you'll be challenged by the variety and enjoy stunning scenery at every turn.

The snow record is excellent due to the Mont Blanc weather system and the region boasts 513 snow cannons covering pastures (rather than rocks).

Morzine is located at the heart of the region and offers easy access to the whole area. Test your skills in the big bowls, on the winding runs or on the moguls or relax in the gentle valleys and admire the sparkling forests. The ski area offers a wide range of terrain and Morzine is an excellent place to be based if you want the option of skiing both above and below the tree line. If the visibility is poor head off on the Les Gets side and spend the day skiing acres and acres of terrain through the trees. In good visibility head off to the Lindarets valley and enjoy the excellent skiing above and below Avoriaz or head off down "the Wall" into Switzerland and beyond. For the not so gung-ho, there are also other, easier ski routes into Switzerland.

The ski area is suited to all levels of skier and rider, and particularly to intermediates who will enjoy the feeling of 'going somewhere' each day rather than being forced to repeatedly ski the same slopes over and over again for the whole week.
